LoRDA WRITERS’ GUIDELINES

The Love Lead Research and Data Association (LoRDA) conducts in-depth researches, publishes up-to-date and timely publications as well as makes relevant data available on issues geared towards bridging gaps facing the Socio-Economic Development and Growth of Africa and Cameroon in particular. The research institution is also interested in area pertaining to:

  • Economic policy analysis
  • Food security impacts of policy interventions
  • Regional integration
  • Education research: innovative learning practices
  • Democracy and governance
  • Gender equality
  • Equitable distribution of resources, etc.
  • Environment and climate change

LoRDA advocates for unsolicited contributions from writers and publishers , including op-eds of 500- 1,000 words and longer commentaries up to 1,500 words. In diversified instances, papers submitted may be hosted/ published on our organizational website. As a nonprofit and independent research that exists to be a resource for scholars, activists, and progressives, LoRDA compensates each contributor, with a modest sum of FCFA 10,000, for each article accepted internally and published. Aware of the rules governing research ethics, the LoRDA research center does not in any way publishes an already published piece internal or external publishers or writers.

Given that we are endowed with experts and scholars vested with knowledge in diversified fields who serve as our resource persons, LoRDA guarantees timely intervention and assistance to aspirants and contributors concurrently with the goal of meeting the broad objective of the Research Center. This way, the research center prospects to build long-term collaboration on a win-win basis. Aside of the financial enumeration to contributors, the research center also creates available dispositions for the following:

  • Create avenues for contributors to become Panel members/moderators during seminars organized internally, conferences or exchange forums organized by the Research Center;
  • Possibility to grant interview(s) on key issues within the research domain of LoRDA and to defined as well as espouse contributors’ expertise profile on the web page of research center.
  • Contributors skills and abilities (outlined on resume) automatically becomes a plus to be considered in the selection process for participation in some of the Research Centers’ projects. The selection process backed by active participation will be accompanied by a motivational package, as deemed necessary by the key stakeholders of the Research Center;
  • Contributors’ photo, academic profile as well as domain(s) of expertise will be hosted on our website with contact details. This will go a long way to advertise each contributor to the academic community as well as public sphere, paving way for contributors to be contacted by other scholars, industries and individuals to participate in knowledge-based events; such as conferences and in some cases provides clarity on unsettling issues or propose possible policy recommendations on issues within the confines of their area of competence.

Conditions Of Acceptance

To be accepted as or become a contributor in the LoRDA Research Center, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

  • A cover letter (not more than 200 words) accurately stating the reasons why your piece should be accepted by LoRDA;
  • A Curriculum Vitae (summarized), of not more than two (03) pages;
  • List of publications (if any);
  • An active electronic address;
  • Must be the author or at least one of the authors of the said piece;
  • In cases where there are more the one contributors authoring the same submission, there must be proof of agreement for publication signed between the said authors before submission of paper. This is to ensure that pieces accepted at the Research Center are void of conflict of interests among contributors.

LoRDA Research Center solely reserves the right to disqualify or opt-down any piece(s) should in case conditions for acceptance hereby prescribed are not duly respected by any contributor. However, incomplete files will automatically be rejected.

Procedure Of Acceptance Of Publication

The following procedures are strictly followed before final publication of any piece submitted to LoRDA Research Center:

  • The contributor / writers should send the electronic version of the title, abstract and outline of his/her paper via our email address at the website: https://lorda-researchcenter.org/;

 

  • The article’s title, abstract and outlines are analyzed within a timeframe of not more than two (02) weeks. Where the proposal is validated upon review by the research term, a notification will be forwarded to the contributor(s) via email, with a message of “go ahead” for the full engagement on the entire content of the piece;

 

  • Once the paper is resubmitted to us, it may take a period of 10-fourteen (10-14) days for internal review and editorial processes.

 

  • After completing the review process, the Research Center forwards back to the contributor(s) the tracked copy of the article and would be expecting resubmission for final review (and subsequent publication) in not more than fourteen (14) days;

 

  • Upon reception of the corrected version of the article, the Research Center will notify contributors on the program pertaining to the publication of the said piece (mindful of the publication schedules and maximum standard limit) and then contributors will be informed of the enumeration fee charged for publication at LoRDA.

NB: Publications at LoRDA are considered ONLY after corrections of tracked copy.

Style Guidelines for Writers

LoRDA Research Center accept contributions including op-eds (ie an essay on your opinions on socio-economic and political issues) of 500- 1,000 words and Longer Commentaries of up to 1,500 words. Articles that are well structured; void of jargons and subjectivity are highly esteemed by LoRDA. We urge scholars to be precise and concise in the course of making vivid presentation of their papers and to make optimal use of the active voice, not forgetting the place of closing remarks wherever and whenever need arises. This serves as a motivating factor to attract readers’ attention.

Contributors ( writers)  are compelled to equally ensure that papers submitted are clean and readable, void of visible track changes and unnecessary marks. Quotations should be paraphrased and presented as block quotes. Lengthy quotations should be summarized; making use of appropriate marks such as (…) in order to avoid verbosity and unnecessary expressions.

Articles or synopsis submitted for publication at LoRDA Research Center should be between three (02) and five (04) pages, making use of Times New Romans as Font Type, 12 Font Size, 1.15-line spacing and Normal Margins (Top 1, Left 1, Bottom 1 and Right 1). The referencing style accepted at LoRDA is the APA (author date) format. Articles in both national languages (English or French) can be submitted for publication at the research center.
