LoRDA. Meaning, LOVE LEAD RESEARCH AND DATA CENTER -

Established in 2019, LoRDA is a Research Center, an association of researchers, non-profit making, independent and apolitical. The Head office of LoRDA is in Bamenda, Mezam Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. LoRDA has three major components: Build Capacity in Research, Strengthen Capacity in Data Analyses and Offer Research and Data Consultancy Services.

The President/Founder, Dr. NDAMSA Dickson Thomas, works with a team of founding members who are university level researchers, other dedicated researchers and data analysts who share a common vision in:

  • Organizing and participating in seminars, lectures, exhibitions, and workshops to build capacity in research and data analysis,
  • Promoting and assisting government and nongovernmental endeavours to collect quality data and promote policy relevant research,
  • Training, coaching, and accompanying of technical expertise in the domain of research and data,
  • Accompanying students with visual impairment through their research career goals,
  • Publication and distribution of available data and research results, and
  • Advocating and lobbying for an enabling policy environment.

To improve on policy relevant research and promote sound data collection so as to revamp the socio-economic, cultural and politcal development of Cameroon and the African continent as a whole.

Our MISSION

LoRDA’s mission is to strengthen capacity for conducting independent, rigorous research into the problems facing the socio-economy of Cameroon in particular and the socio-economies of the African continent as a whole. This mission leans on two basic premises:

  • That informed socio-economic development policies are more likely to come-by where there is a good data record and sound policy relevant research.
  • That sound policy relevant research is expected to occur where there is a committed, well-informed group of locally based professional researchers to carry out such research.

Our OBJECTIVES

– To promote and provide capacity building seminars and educative talks to locally based early career researchers in the domain of business, economics, political science and other social sciences to enable them carry out policy relevant research activities and conduct sound data analyses,
– To collect and gather needed data and ease access to it for research and policy analyses,
– To accompany and promote all actions from government and non-governmental organisations in conducting policy relevant research on current issues (business and economic shocks, social and political shocks, attitudes towards epidemics, pandemics),
– To contribute in supporting the personal growth and development of persons through education, leadership empowerment and promotion of appropriate socio-economic activities that encourage creativity, inclusive development and greater learning,
– To accompany students with visual impairment through their research career goals,
– To seek and provide funding to policy relevant research activities of students and professional researchers,
– To provide high level technical assistance and collaborative, as well as partnership services in the collection of data and implementation of sound research recommendations to spur development and boost inclusive education.
